I had the pleasure of being awake early enough that I was able to grab tickets to the Scream 6 Fan Event in Santa Monica this last weekend. I was pretty excited being a Scream enthusiast. I even have a Ghostface tattooed on my leg.
The event was set up in the promenade in Santa Monica, which had lots of parking and lots of food nearby so it made for a great day to meet up with all my horror friends.
They had the wall painted up with Ghostface and the outside of a bodega, which you got to enter and walk around.
Walking around the bodega gives serious chills if you have seen the trailer, you keep waiting for Ghostface to pop in and take out a few folks. They gave us about 5 minutes to walk around and check everything out. I went through the event three different times and each time found new things to see. I had so much fun looking for items that were from Woodsboro or from NYC.
The lights flash and the guy sitting at the counter says “you got a call, take it out back” Everyone laughed every single time, I mean all 20 of us got a call..oh ok, but it moved us into the next room which was the point. Next we are on the subway. There is a 2 minute video where Ghostface talks to the crowd and threatens everyone. Both walls are complete projection screens which is pretty neat since it feels like you are in an actual subway. Once he attacks the outside of the subway we move on to the best part of the experience.
We walk into the museum which is a smaller version of what we see in the film (spoiler, sorry). It was awesome to see some of the pieces up close. My favorite was the tv that killed Stu. Which I know was there because of the conspiracy around Stu’s death. ( I love Matthew Lillard )so who wouldn’t love to see him come back just cause he’s such a cool guy.) I definitely want to make a stabbathon sweater for myself now.
The whole event was about 15 minutes and a delight for any Scream Fan. I wanted to keep going through just to see what I hadn’t seen. I hope they decide to do more events like this for other horror films. These pop up events really allow fans to connect with the films that they are excited for.
