This is what I like- aliens nearly right out of the gate and they never stop. In the beginning, Brynn (Kaitlyn Dever) starts to walk downstairs and you can see a shadow moving inside her house through a piece of frosted glass. Having been traumatized by Fire in the Sky in 1993, I let out a “hell no,” paused to wash a few dishes, and then continued bravely.
No One Will Save You is exactly what I pictured happening to me after watching any alien episode of Unsolved Mysteries when I was younger- running, hiding, things getting knocked over, someone getting stabbed in the skull, and a ton of crying while trying to be silent. There is a back story of sorts that ties into the unexpected ending, but mostly it’s a lot of running and hiding. You’ll notice Brynn making a few classic horror movie errors that will have you yelling at your TV but hey, it’s those blunders that make horror flicks fun. The CGI of the alien beings themselves wasn’t stellar (except for their dang trippy feet), but I was happy about that- I’m not sure I would have been able to uncover my eyes during certain parts otherwise. I’m still not sure whether I enjoyed the ending or though it was an odd way to wrap this one up, but it was ultimately enjoyable. No One Will Save You is streaming on Hulu and would make for a fun popcorn movie to watch this weekend.
