Film festivals dot the landscape, but North Carolinians need look no further than their own backyard for the yearly selection of frights and delights from the Mad Monster Film Fest presented by the Mad Monster Party. For the past eleven years, the Mad Monster Party has worked to bring the Carolinas a unique selection of fright films from across the country and beyond.
This past weekend, the festival hosted a wide variety of thirty-nine films, including both full length features and short film selections. The film committee spent the past nine months reviewing entries and narrowing them down to the final selection to share with the audience.
The films presented were primarily horror films, with a few science fiction and fantasy efforts mixed in to represent the totality of speculative fiction. Zombies, vampires, and a few Lovecraft adaptations were on display to entertain the crowds throughout the weekend.
The winners for the 2022 Mad Monster Film Fest have been selected.
