Netflix has released the first official teaser trailer and more for the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film. The movie is a direct sequel to the original Tobe Hooper film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
David Blue Garcia (Tejano) directed the movie for Legendary. Chris Thomas Devlin wrote the script. Texas Chainsaw Massacre was filmed in Bulgaria, which is disappointing for fans of the original film.
Netflix is in full-blown public relations mode, trying to create a buzz for a sequel that looks about as lackluster as Millennium Media’s Leatherface. I genuinely hope that Legendary could pull it off and give horror fans a great new installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. However, I am not hopeful.
Based on the new synopsis, it seems like the writers may have been copying Blumhouse’s Halloween by bringing back Sally Hardesty in the same manner. Are we going to get a Sally Hardesty trying to kill an aging Leatherface? If so, it’s about 50 years too late. Unlike Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre failed to get a theatrical release and stream exclusively on Netflix.

Official Logline: After nearly 50 years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town.
Official Synopsis: “Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.”
This is different synopsis than the one first posted in IMDb which described the movie as “The spiritual sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise takes place 47 years later. Ruth is a 25-year old San Francisco moneymaker who drags her younger teenage sister with her to Texas on a business trip, out of fear of leaving her alone in the city. The younger sister Lila is an amateur photographer who is wheelchair-bound and it’s not long until they’re fighting for their lives against a 60 year old Leatherface.”
Elsie Fisher (“Castle Rock”), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Mark Burnham (Wrong Cops), Moe Dunford (The Dig), Olwen Fouéré (Mandy), Alice Krige (“Star Trek”), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Nell Hudson (Victoria), Jessica Allain (The Laundromat), Sam Douglas (Snatch), William Hope (Dark Shadows), and Jolyon Coy (“War & Peace”) star in the new film.
